Making Fun Games

I love Horror films, especially good ones with Zombies in. Obviously Romero made the best ones. But since his '..of the Dead' trilogy there's been so many bad ones the genre was abandoned for a while 'cos people were fed up with them. Inevitably, most of them ended up as comedies because it's easier to parody Romero than it is to emulate him. It's been the same with games too. Since Resident Evil, a proper zombie game, there's been loads of inferior zombie games on the bandwagon. Not many of them are actually scary though and inevitably a lot of them ended up as comedies. We've been brave. We've made a proper Zombie game. It isn't tongue in cheek or ironic. It's pure survival horror. It's called 'Outbreak 2012".

Outbreak 2012

Mr Playstival works too hard. But when he's making games as good as this I'm not going to be the one to tell him to slow down...

Outbreak 2012 is a classic survival horror game. It's got some nice shooty action but it also has just enough suspense to keep it nice and creepy. It IS hard, but it has to be- if the enemy isn't deadly then you aren't scared of them..

Like Red Code, the pacing and progression are the key to making this game as much fun as it can be. Plus just the right amount of well placed checkpoints. And a LOT of enemies. We've gone for the global terrorism angle- it seems more topical at he moment. Personally, I like to get my teeth into writing a story, even if a lot of people will skip it and just get on with the action. The game's turned out well- it's a real challenge and it IS pretty tense.

Outbreak 2012 is finished and available for sponsorship. Enjoy...
